WP3.AZ2 - Probabilistic tsunami hazard assessment

The action tends to identify, chart and distinguish the potential sources of tsunami from the earthquake and gravitational event. In the first case, the data of historical seismicity and seismic source database are considered, in the second case, the starting database is represented by the results of the MAGIC project (funded by the Italian Civil Protection Department), which has identified the main areas of instability along the Italian continental margins.

For the coastal zone planning, the tsunami hazard can be quantitatively assessed by flood maps that provide the values of: runup height, inundation distance, height of the water column, water current velocity, momentum in areas of interest.
