WP1.AZ1 - Morphological structure and sedimetary dynamics

Study of the interaction between natural changes and historical human impacts on the coastal area, through the implementation of integrated surveys (cartographic, aerial photogrammetric and morphobathymetric analysis, geophysical surveys, surveys and stratigraphy of deposits) in order to define the sedimentary processes in the coastal, transitional, deltaic and platform areas.

These surveys is the basis for understanding the sedimentary budgets and evaluating the cause and effect relationships with natural and anthropogenic forcings. In particular, erosive systems and possible recovery actions are emphasized, as well as through the study of reuse practices of sedimentary material and the identification of submerged sand deposits (both nearshore and offshore) that could be used for artificial nourishment against the Coastline retreat.
