WP4.AZ4 - Validation of forecasting systems using the observational network

The Action aims to develop a methodology for the validation of the products relative to the observational data network both in situ and by satellite, and it periodically analyzes the validation results from the various components of the forecasting systems in order to provide useful indications to the Actions 2 and 3. Validation procedures also include activities dedicated to OSE (Observing System Experiments) and, where possible, OSSE (Observing System Simulation Experiments) experiments, in collaboration with the WP dedicated to observational networks in order to assess the impact of selected components of the existing observing system (OSE) and future (OSSE) on the quality of forecast products. This activity provides useful indications in order to optimize the development of the observational network.
