WP2.AZ3 - Evaluation of deep-sea ecosystem services and their possible decrease due to environmental change, both anthropogenic and natural

According to literature data, prior knowledge and surveys carried out in specific areas within the project, the Action identify and quantify the deep-sea ecosystem services related to four main categories: life-support (nutrient cycling and primary production), supply (food, clean water, materials or fuel production), regulation (climate and tide regulation, pollutants sequestration, water purification, CO2 abatement), cultural values (landscape and nature aspects). The effects of anthropic impacts on the effectiveness of ecosystem services are also analyzed in key areas.
