WP3.AZ1 - Definition and consolidation of the present observational network and design and implementation of a new network

First of all, the Action aims to define the present state of the current network of stations and to update on the basis of priority criteria such as relevance of the fixed stations, their integration in European projects, cost of upgrading, management skills. Then, a new network is designed (starting from the existing), and it is modular and interoperable of fixed sites through the definition of requirements for components, services, and interfaces, in close collaboration with industry (technology districts and SMEs). The Action aims to establishing a two-tier structure with sites (both coastal and offshore) in recognised strategic areas, where the infrastructure are implemented in terms of type and variety of instrumentation.
