WP1.AZ1 - Definition of general objectives, areas, and additional parameters and of a metric for the observing system

The Action provides a survey on the existing national and international programs that can be integrated with the actions of RITMARE project. It defines the scientific and technical purposes of the RITMARE observing system in its components, such as stations, in-situ and remote space investigations, and, in particular, it indicates the essential oceanic variables. The Action also contributes to select the monitoring areas of the RITMARE system, and to use the main technological, procedural and methodological innovations. Moreover, it defines a metric that could assess the effectiveness of the observing system and its usefulness for specific users.
